Wine 101 - This month's featured wines

Vineyard Tears

Our best selling dry white wine! After a triumphant first release (written up by the Wall Street Journal), we follow it up with an Alsatian masterpiece, full of layers of spice and fruit. This blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Riesling and Müller-Thurgau is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Winemaker's Notes: A rich and complex blend of our most aromatic varieties, you will find a fresh-fruit core of peaches, pears with slight mineral characteristic on the mouth feel. A pleasantly smooth and clean finish caps off this spectacular blend.

Food Pairings: An excellent choice for pasta primavera, vegetarian dishes, light chicken dishes and mild fish. View recipes paired with Vineyard Tears Wine.

Edel Doux

A Blend of 70% Riesling and 30% Gewürtztraminer. Riesling is one of the world's greatest wine grapes. When properly grown it has great flavor intensity with a wide range of flavors and a wonderfully rich and complex nose. The Riesling grape is believed to be indigenous to Germany, and has been planted there since the fourteenth century. Gewürz means "spicy" in German and this is the main characteristic of Gewürztraminer. A member of the Muscat family with rich, pungent character and flavors, it is full-bodied, low in acid, and slightly oily in texture. Gewürztraminer has an unmistakable trademark in its smell: a mix of roses and lychee fruit, ripe pears, tropical fruit and even sweet spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.

Edel Doux is made in the "late harvest" style, which results in a wine that is very sweet and almost dessert like. Overtones of apricot and peach come through in the finish.

Food Pairings: This wine is a perfect pairing with mild cheeses or dessert, specifically chocolate. Edel Doux also is a great aperitif. View recipes paired with Edel Doux.

From the Cellar
We're putting the finishing touches on the 2009 white wines and getting ready to bottle the 2008 red wines. We're brewing beer like crazy just to keep up with demand. Look for two new distilled products to be released this summer... DiVine Rum and DiVine Bourbon. Whew, where do we find the time?

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Bourbon & Whiskey?

It's a common misconception to think the two are different, however, all bourbons are whiskey, but not all whiskeys are bourbon. Bourbon is actually a TYPE of whiskey and there are 5 major categories of whisky: Bourbon, American Blended, Scotch, Irish and Canadian.

Bourbon Whiskey is an American whiskey, a type of distilled spirit, made primarily from a fermented mash containing at least 51% corn (maize) and named for Bourbon County, Kentucky. It must be distilled at no more than 160 proof (80% by volume) and aged in new, charred oak barrels for at least 2 years. It has been produced since the 18th century.
